03 ABOUT ME
My Journey
Originally from Sydney Australia, I moved to SF in 2013 to work at Eventbrite. I have always loved visiting California, so when I had the opportunity to move to SF, join a product I believe in and work on an amazing project - it was a dream come true.
I'm a lifelong geek who likes to build things through combining design and technology in a thoughtful way. I started my career as a web developer, fascinated with systems, databases, features and interactive UI's. I see the world in data models, relationships between entities and UI touch points that deliver both service and value. I was motivated to move into UX so I could better understand the problems to solve, to seek truths from users and design technical solutions that combine business and user needs.
My Values
Committed, reliable, authentic, humble and passionate.
My Core Strengths
Responsible, relator, strategic, futuristic and adaptable.
My Design Process
Discovery & Research
I use UX research methods to uncover foundational knowledge, I seek to understand the problems that need to be solved, by building empathy for both user and business. We generate hypotheses and product requirements that inform the scope of work and provide direction in designing the right solution.
Strategy & Concepts
Based on what we learn in discovery I bring a cross functional team together to brainstorm. The goal is to formulate a UX strategy, unpack assumptions, define core aspects of the system, identify critical moments in the user journey and translate those into UX/UI concepts that communicate a vision.
Design, Test, Build & Learn
Working with engineers and designers, we take concepts through to interactive prototypes to test with our users. We then iterate until we have a solution worthy of building. Once we have a solution in play we analyze usage, monitor performance and determine user satisfaction to inform the next iteration.
A problem shared and ideated on is a problem solved.
